Creating A Garden For Birds In Winter

Silver Birch Trees In winter

One of the wonderful parts of having a garden is that even in the depths of winter you can look out the window and see nature.

Even on a freezing cold and windy day like today when, even a a keen gardener, I know I will probably do more harm than good tramping across wet grass and muddy borders, I can look out and see our lovely garden and all the wildlife that visit.

For me now the garden and the wildlife are intrinsically bound together. What happens with one affects the other so now I always try to keep both in mind with everything I do.

I love birds and get so much pleasure from seeing all the different ones, hearing them singing away so beautifully, having them nest in our garden and all their lovely antics all year I always want to help them through the often difficult winter months.

So at this time of year I sort out all the bird feeders and go to the shops or the farmer's markets and stock up on the bird feed.

two birds in snow covered shrubI usually get a variety of bird food so that different birds may enjoy it. We have many different birds visit our garden such as blackbirds, starling, thrushes, sparrows, greenfinch, wood pigeon and many more! So I have just bought some sunflower seed, niger seeds and fat balls. I will be getting more in as the weeks go by.

Then I position the bird feeders especially those for smaller birds, so that they are grouped together but a fair distance from each other to reduce squabbling and high enough so they are hopefully out of reach of ground predators. Then its just a matter of waiting.

After years of careful planting for wildlife with a mix of evergreen and deciduous trees and shrubs with lots of cover and food, there is an abundance of berries and autumn bounty in our garden.

So I do wonder if the birds may not need quite so much from me this year but we do not yet know what kind if winter it will be mild or severe or somewhere in between, so I will give the birds the option!

Many of our songbirds are declining in number so I think they need all the help we can give.

Also, I do love to watch them at the feeders and if possible take some photographs so it is always lovely when they do visit.
Bird on top of shrub

It is also important to leave water for the birds and we have a large birdbath that they visit every day.

We change the water every day as birds from tiny sparrows to large wood pigeons do love to bathe in it a lot!

During the freezing weather, we always go out and break the ice on it so they always have access to clean fresh water.

You may like to read more about the importance of a Bird Bath in Do You Have A Bird Bath In Your Garden?

The birds in our garden give me such a lot and are such an integral and important part of our natural world.

It is lovely to know that by planting the trees and shrubs they love for cover and berries and I love for how they look and make me feel,  that I can help the wildlife out a little as well.

Wonderful Autumn Experiences Of Nature

Autumn Trees

Wrapped up warm and cosy, walking with my hubby through the countryside near us, what could be better.
I just adore Autumn, everything seems to slow down, become more mellow, softer, and we are treated to a spectacular show of colour. Reds, greens and golds dominate the landscape. I love walking through fallen leaves, crisp and crunchy underfoot. Glorious in their falling from the skies, a carpet of rich colour. Memories of childhood games and crafts collecting the leaves to make wonderful pictures.

The skies here are often amazing. Being nearer the sea and flatter in this part of the country, we are treated to gorgeous sunsets and dramatic storm clouds scattered across the sky. Morning mists hanging heavy, slowly giving way to a glimpse of sunlight breaking through. When the sun is out everything takes on a golden sheen which bathes the trees, houses and fields in a warm comforting glow.

Wearing warm sweaters and woolly hats, a walk in the countryside at this time of year on a bright day is stunning. Everywhere is laden with the fruits of each plants labour. We picked up beautiful bronzed conkers! White snow berries are hanging low on branches. Beautiful bright red berries glisten and the thud of chestnuts fall heavy on the ground.

Rainy days are for splashing about in puddles in wellies or cuddling up in front of the fire, watching the raindrops hitting the window panes and if heavy, listening to the thundering on the roof.
Wildlife getting ready for winter, scurrying around finding food to store and shelter to rest in when the weather turns really cold. We do the same, preparing for winter, bringing in our garden furniture, a sigh that it won't be needed again until late spring but also enjoying the beauty of this Fall time.

We are so lucky to have the change of seasons here but while many bemoan the passing of what was a rare and glorious summer this year, I love to appreciate Autumns treasures too.

How To Care For Plants On Vacation

Now is the time of year many people like to get away on holiday. It may be somewhere abroad for a week or two or in your own country for a short or longer break. Wherever you go it does mean leaving your plants behind at sometimes a critical time.

Pink Cammelia Flower

Action Plan For Your Plants While You Are On Vacation

1. If you can ask a friend, family member or neighbour to come in check them, mow the lawn, open greenhouse windows and close them again, water and feed your plants. It is quite a big ask, I know I have done it for a friend who had a huge garden with a massive veg plot for 3 weeks once!If the kind soul does this for you it is so nice to get them a gift. If they are a gardener maybe a lovely plant or cuttings from plants they admire in your own garden, some veg from your garden or just a beautiful gift. Even better offer to do it for their garden when they go away.

2. If that is not possible then you need to help the plants through what could be variable weather. I also always fill up the bird feeders and birdbath and put extra bathing areas around the garden for the birds :)

3. Mow the lawn just before you leave, it will be fine for a couple of weeks until you come back.

4.I tend to leave the bigger shrubs and plants to their own devices to seek water by themselves. For example, all my Forsythias, Buddleia, Lavenders and other established shrubs including this Ceanothus cope just fine whatever the weather.

Shrub with blue flowers

5. Smaller plants or those I have recently planted in the ground I give them a huge good watering 2 weeks before I leave then two or three times the week before I leave then the day before. So far they have always coped well when I do this.

6. Plants in the soil are one thing, but plants in pots are so much more reliant on you for feed and water. Again if they are in a bigger pot I will do the same watering routine as above plus give then a good feed. I then move them all into the shade and protected areas of the garden and group them all together. This provides a mini eco system and if in shade they get less of the drying effects of the sun.

6. I have tried in the past using capillary matting to run from a bucket into each pot and it worked well.

small plants in pots in a washing up bowl

7. With the smaller plants in pots and with the vegetables I am growing in pots this year I knew they would not survive well so I filled bowls and buckets with a little water and even utilised a dog bath we don't use anymore and put each small pot in there.

I give them a good watering from above and then the roots will search out the water below. I find it is OK if these are left in shade/semi-shade or in their usual positions as long as they have water in the bowl. It worked so well they looked even better after my holiday with really good root systems!

8. If you have a Greenhouse you may well find a Greenhouse Mist Drip Irrigation Watering kit like this one useful.

Have a wonderful holiday and a beautiful garden! Do you have any tips for caring for the garden while on vacation?

Love Summertime In And Out The Garden!

Why I Love Summertime

Summer is a lovely time of year. In summer we have long days and hopefully longer warmer days and sunshine, vacation time and beautiful flowers. Its quite an easy time of year to love.

Life is easier in the Summertime...

Vivaldi Four Seasons-Summer

Gorgeous music which is beautiful to listen to. You may like to have this video playing while you look through the rest of the page....I find it puts you in the summertime mood. I'm Loving Summer!!

What can I say about Summer?

In a country where it's not that warm most of the year Summertime is our big chance at some high temperatures, occasional balmy days and warmer evenings....for a little while at least :)

A time where we can actually eat out of doors have picnics and breakfast on the patio. Summer is a time to wear lovely dresses and beautiful cool fabrics. Maybe even a sun hat!

A time where the days are long, light, sunny, warm and bright :) Of course, it is not always like that here in UK where I live - in fact its probably a matter of weeks rather than months - but when it is.... oh how we treasure it :)

Life's A Beach! I love walking a long a quiet beach during the summer. I do not get the chance to do this very often as I do not live that near to a beach and so it is a once in a while experience or when we are on holiday.

I do treasure it though and it is never ordinary. There is nothing quite like walking barefoot across a warm sandy beach in the summertime. Feeling the soft warm sand between your toes and the gentle breeze in your hair.....

There is a freshness and unique feeling about being on a beach where the sun warms the sand and the waves gently roll in and I always find it oh so relaxing and serene.

Summertime and the living is e-a-s-y

Summer afternoon - summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.
Henry James

Near Water In Summer

When it is warm or even hot in summer often if they can people gravitate to the water. So we find that beaches, lakes, ponds and rivers tend to attract people more.

Some people take their sport to the water and we often see people sailing or water surfing or simply taking a gentle row in a small rowing boat.

We can enjoy the water more in the summer, warmer with less breeze. Some people like the challenge of water sports in winter but for many its the more chilled out relaxing summer time they love to be in and around the water.

There is also nothing quite like watching the sunshine glisten on the water like thousands of stars gently drifting in a quiet breeze....

"Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability."
Sam Keen

Beautiful Summer Flowers

In many gardens, Summer is the time for flowers. I love all the vibrant colours of the flowers the reds and golds, yellows and purples and also the more gentle shades of lilacs and whites and pinks. They are all just so beautiful.

The garden seems to grow so quickly during early summer becoming heavy with greenery and with blooms. Many are scented and the scent hangs heavy on the air when the day is still. Beautiful annuals put on their flowery show now, just a one off magical appearance for a few short weeks but wow, what a show!

Many roses reach their peak and their beauty is astounding and of the scented ones there is nothing like holding a rose to your fave and drinking in the gorgeous different scents.

The garden reaches a hiatus in summer. Much of the frenetic work needed to be done in Spring is over and the Autumn tasks are yet to be needed so we get a brief period of rest.

As a gardener we should take more time to look , to feel to smell our gardens around us and appreciate them.

If you love flowers Summer is the place to be !

"A single sunbeam is enough to drive away many shadows."
St. Francis of Assisi

Herbs In Summer

We have a small herb garden and they always come into their own in Summer time. I love the fresh wonderful scents, the beautiful stems and flowers of the herbs.

It feels so good to be able to go out of the kitchen door and pick a few chives, sage, rosemary or mint or anything else to go with dinner that evening and to know that we grew them in our garden and how fresh they are.

To Summer by William Blake

O thou who passest thro' our valleys in
Thy strength, curb thy fierce steeds, allay the heat
That flames from their large nostrils! thou, O Summer,
Oft pitched'st here thy goldent tent, and oft
Beneath our oaks hast slept, while we beheld
With joy thy ruddy limbs and flourishing hair.
Beneath our thickest shades we oft have heard
Thy voice, when noon upon his fervid car
Rode o'er the deep of heaven; beside our springs
Sit down, and in our mossy valleys, on
Some bank beside a river clear, throw thy
Silk draperies off, and rush into the stream:
Our valleys love the Summer in his pride.
Our bards are fam'd who strike the silver wire:
Our youth are bolder than the southern swains:
Our maidens fairer in the sprightly dance:
We lack not songs, nor instruments of joy,
Nor echoes sweet, nor waters clear as heaven,
Nor laurel wreaths against the sultry heat.

Pretty Summer Flowers

"In summer, the song sings itself."
William Carlos Williams

Summer Holidays!

Another reason to love summer is the holidays. As a child the summer holidays in July and August seemed to stretch on forever and ever. Long balmy days of play and sunshine...

As an adult of course I didn't get those long summer holidays and the summers seem a lot shorter now somehow. We tend to go on holiday at different times of the year but we still managed a week in the warmer weather of July or August to chill out and relax a little.

As a gardener, it is important to take time every so often to just sit in the garden and look, listen, smell and touch your garden. No weeding, no planning just take it all in and enjoy it.

Take a break from the usual routine and explore, relax, enjoy your garden.

Summer Reading -

All the days of summer to read a good book. Good to enjoy a book in the summer whatever your age. One of my happy pleasures is to take a good book out into our garden, sit on the patio or even on a rug on the grass and simply enjoy reading. Not reading for work or for a course qualification or for learning. No just to read and get lost in a story, in a narrative, in another world.

I love to spend an hour or two like this in the garden on a recliner when I get the opportunity during the summer, the sun warm on my body, the gentle breeze, sound of bees humming and just quietly reading.

Unfortunately, summer is just come to a close today, here in Canada, at least officially. But, I enjoy Autumn as well and the beauty it brings, even though the temperatures start to drop.
The best thing about Summer for me are the long days. It's quite bright even around 9:00 pm. I enjoyed listening to "Vivaldi Four Seasons-Summer" while reading this

Although born in February I can't wait for the summer every single year. It may be too hot sometimes, but I just love it. Colors, warm nights, social events all over the city, going to the coast etc.

Another wonderful thing about summer is the flowers, especially the roses. We have many rose gardens here in Victoria.

A Gathering Storm

You can feel the presence of a gathering storm. It hangs heavy on the air.

storm clouds

This photo was taken while hubby and I were out walking in the countryside and it was so weird that to the left of us were clear such bright blue skies and to the right were these deep dark rolling gloomy storm clouds. It felt that it could go either way.

The air became very still and the animals around went to shelter. The deer in the far distance huddled closer together. They looked agitated. No birds sang. We were out in the open in the middle of a huge field. For us too we knew, some deep instinct within that we needed to find shelter and soon. We headed off to find it.

A few minutes later the wind picked up wild and blustery and trying to tear our coats off. We clung onto our hats! The air was heavy and damp as we walked quickly to find the cosy warm cafe we had passed on the way here. There was an air of anticipation, of something so much bigger than us.

Upon reaching the cafe literally within seconds we looked out and saw the splat of that heavy wet rain on the window pane. Heavy, lazy, big drops of splattery rain, the sort that just goes right through you.

The wind howled around the little cafe and rattled the old window panes, cold draughts finding their way though the cracks. The waitress greeted us in typically understated fashion for these parts, "bit breezy out ?" We sat in comfort drinking hot chocolate watching the rain, glad and grateful to be dry, cosy and warm.

Within an hour the clouds blew over, the wind died down, the heavy biting rain turned to showers and the animals relaxed again.

Birds started to sing. A short brief experience. No thunder or lightning this time just a normal undramatic rainstorm, clearly nothing on the scale suffered in some countries and areas and no devastation or flooding.

Yet nature at work, ordinary yet extraordinary, remarkable yet unremarkable.

Amazing Pumpkins!

As it has not really been possible to do any gardening lately due to the extremely wet weather I am remembering some of the trips we took to other gardens in the  Summer and Autumn.

pumpkins and squashes

It One of these visits was to a lovely stately home near us that has a wonderful walled garden vegetable and fruit plot.

It was rainy so we went into the greenhouse for a bit of warmth and dry and there it was right in front of us! It was not promoted, they didn't make a big deal of it.

We would have missed it if we hadn't wanted to get out of the wind for awhile.

The gardener just said they were part of the crop and they had recently brought them in.

It was an amazing pumpkin crop! I have never seen one like this in my life. What a beautiful, bright spectacle of colour and shapes greeted us!

Some of the pumpkins were so small they easily fitted into the palm of my hand and some were so enormous it must have taken several people to lift them into position.

Large pumpkin

There are many different types of pumpkins or winter squash. I don't know them all. However, I have used Butternut squash in cooking.

There is the lovely shaped turban squash, the sweet nutty acorn squash and the wonderful Cinderella pumpkin to name a few.

The field pumpkin is the one we usually see in supermarkets this time of year for carving.

Squashes are great in cooking and can be roasted, baked, or mashed. I haven't tried it but I also heard that you can carve them out, bake them then use to pour soup into as a novel dining experience!

If you love Pumpkins and Squashes and like to use them for decoration in the home these pumpkin decorations with many options to choose from may be very useful to you

We don't have room currently to grow pumpkins but I would be very proud of this crop!

Do you like growing, cooking, or carving pumpkins?

Growing And Using Dogwood

Bundle of red dogwood stems

I have two bushes of dogwood in our garden. There are many variants of dogwood. In the summer the species I have in our garden is a large yet unremarkable plant.

It does get tiny white flowers and small white berries and the leaves are quite pretty, but there are certainly more beautiful looking plants around.

So why does Dogwood deserve a place in my garden?

For me with dogwood it's all about the stems. I grow red-stemmed dogwood as we love the colour red. In the late autumn when most of the leaves have fallen I cut about half of the stems.

These stems are now very tall some are six feet high or more. Many are very straight, some are twisted or curved it depends how they have grown.

So these stems are cut to size and in winter I use them to decorate our home. Some of the more unusual shapes and curves go into clear vases where the red stems and shapes really shine through.

Others I tie up into a rustic bundle and place in a natural wicker basket by the fire. They look gorgeous there. At Christmas I add colourful baubles, tinsel, put lights around them or even glitter sometimes!

Gathering dogwood stems

Outside in the garden the remaining dogwood stems shine out a vibrant gorgeous red and look wonderful when dew forms upon them, or after a frost. They especially liven up the winter garden when snow falls white against red... beautiful.

In early spring I start to plant out climbers like sweet peas and I use the Dogwood sticks as supports. I also want to protect young plants from damage so put a few sticks around them with garden twine or string.

The sticks also help to keep the neighbourhood cats from using the pots freshly planted with bulbs as a toilet! I use the same Dogwood stems that have decorated our home all winter to act as plant supports and protective sticks.

They last all year and meantime the new dogwood stems are out there growing away needing little attention from me in our garden.

You do need a spot with a fair amount of room in order to let them grow large and somewhere perhaps that is not center stage in summer but will be noticed in winter.

Dogwood, so beautiful in winter, so versatile, so very useful - I love them.

Springtime Flower Photographs!

yellow tulips by water

I just wanted to share these springtime photographs with you.

The weather here is grey and dismal and has rained, rained, rained for days. It feels like weeks with little sunshine. The hours of daylight are increasing gradually, but it is still dark early.

This photograph was taken last year and I just love the life and colours and the beauty of the flowers on a lovely warm day.

I can even recall how relaxed I felt, the fresh air, the scent of all the flowers, the gentle touch of the leaves and the rippling movement of the water- safely in the lake- from a light breeze. Amazing how a photo can evoke such memories and feelings.

Colourful Spring flowers

I do like to live in the moment and appreciate all of the days whatever they bring, when they are here, as they will not come again.

There is much beauty to be found in winter too. Today though I just needed to have the experience and memory of the spring colours!

Allium flower purple

So these photos are just a wonderful memory and reminder of things to come, which they will. Times of warmer, brighter, lighter days while we still appreciate what we have today.

I Love Autumn, Nature And Memories

I Love Autumn- Nature And The Memories

Pumpkin

Reasons To Love Autumn/Fall

This post is a little look back on Autumn's past and why I love the season. You will see Autumn photographs, gift ideas, poetry and memories. I hope you enjoy it.

Autumn or Fall is a gorgeous time of year. Nature gives us a spectacular show of colour and richness to enjoy before we are plunged into winter.

Yes, the days get shorter and colder but some of my favourite colours appear in Autumn. Cosy sweaters, hats and gloves start to be worn and out come the richly scented candles evocative of spices, warmth and comfort.

We have a wonderful harvest and the benefit of reaping what we have sown earlier. Often beautiful sunsets and sunrises occur and we can watch nature as the year ripens. Wonderful childhood memories come flooding back to me of walking through deep layers of richly coloured leaves and learning about all the trees.

All in all Yes I love Autumn !

You may like to listen to this beautiful music as you look through the rest of the page. A beautiful piece of music from one of my favourite composers :)

Lovely Autumn /Fall scene. I just like this photograph of nature turning into Autumn/Fall

Our Autumn Wedding and Anniversary!

One of my best memories has to be our Wedding day. We got married in the autumn, at the end of September.

I confess to being a little worried about the weather all those years ago, but it was lovely. Before our Wedding it rained heavily but on Friday things started to brighten up and the actual day was glorious! I am so happy and grateful for our beautiful Autumn Wedding and the wonderful memories we have.

The weather was beautiful, clear warm but not too hot, sunny and bright and with a stunning backdrop of autumn colours! The photographer was ecstatic as he said although most people like summer weddings the light is so much better in the autumn. He took some rich and glorious photographs for us we treasure.

Even after 20 years we still celebrate our anniversary. It is a special day for us and that is something I love about Autumn :)

To Autumn-John Keats

John Keats - To Autumn

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;

To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,

And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For Summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells.
Who hath not seen thee oft amid thy store?

Sometimes whoever seeks abroad may find
Thee sitting careless on a granary floor,
Thy hair soft-lifted by the winnowing wind;
Or on a half-reap'd furrow sound asleep,

Drows'd with the fume of poppies, while thy hook
Spares the next swath and all its twined flowers:
And sometimes like a gleaner thou dost keep
Steady thy laden head across a brook;

Or by a cyder-press, with patient look,
Thou watchest the last oozings hours by hours.
Where are the songs of Spring? Ay, where are they?
Think not of them, thou hast thy music too, -

While barred clouds bloom the soft-dying day,
And touch the stubble plains with rosy hue;
Then in a wailful choir the small gnats mourn
Among the river sallows, borne aloft

Or sinking as the light wind lives or dies;
And full-grown lambs loud bleat from hilly bourn;
Hedge-crickets sing; and now with treble soft
The red-breast whistles from a garden-croft;
And gathering swallows twitter in the skies.

Golden Retriever Birthday!

It was our Goldies Birthday in Sept so each year we had a birthday for him. Treats and dog cake and lots of pressies of course! Yes we are crazy but he was our little man in a golden suit. I still remember his birthday even now he has passed.

Goldie loved Autumn. Summer was usually too muggy for him with his big furry coat, but in the Autumn he could run and play without getting too hot and best of all jump in MUD!! Camouflage himself in the autumn colours of the fallen leaves and roll in them! Autumn was Fun!

Autumn holidays

We quite often have taken our annual holiday in the Autumn. It is great when everyone else seems to be going back to work to have a couple of weeks off.If going abroad to sunnier climes the fares and accommodation have often been less expensive than the summer yet still good weather.

If holidaying in Britain again the cottages are less expensive, certainly less crowded and we have usually had wonderful clear crisp sunny days ideal for long country walks in the fields and forests and along the beaches and cliffs and warm cosy nights by the fire reading or watching a great film all safe and peaceful and cosy.

Usually at sometime during October or late September the dogs not allowed ban on the beaches where in force is often lifted and we could enjoy playing with Goldie on the beach! Bracing winds often.... oh Yes... but great fun!

Fun For Children In Autumn

Children can enjoy every season. I have such happy memories as a child of autumn.

I loved it when my mum and dad took me into the woods near us and we chose leaves and made works of art from them. I loved walking through deep piles of leaves wrapped up in big sweaters and scarf identifying all the different trees and leaves.

Out in the fresh air enjoying nature running free and having fun! What could be better. I still love being out in nature in the autumn today !

We went for a lovely sunny Autumn walk and the leaves were deeply stacked up in places and very crunchy as you walked through them. Reminded me of hours of fun when I was a child! I still love wading through leaves now :)

Teach Children About Autumn/Fall

Personally I think it is essential to teach children all about nature and the different seasons. I will never forget the times as a child walking through red, yellow and bronze autumn leaves with my Mum, playing and learning.

Then choosing a few really spectacular leaves to take home and press. Together we learned about which trees they came from and why the leaves turned all these amazing colours.
I was learning so much and having fun with my Mum. These memories are more treasured than ever now she is gone.

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower."

Albert Camus

Autumn Gardening

Although it is a little sad to see the summer flowers fading it is good to clear the way for the autumn bulbs and to give the changing leaf colour, center stage for a short while before we go into winter.

I enjoy the autumn tasks, gathering leaves, autumn pruning, planting and all the while appreciating the glorious colours all around.

I attempt to make my garden look as good in Autumn as it did in summer and while I don't think I have quite achieved that yet I do enjoy trying!

Though I live in a part of Asia where there's no autumn season I always thought it is the most fascinating of all the season. Terrific lens. ~Blessed by a Squid Angel.:0

Autumn for me is a fascinating season, mainly because where I am, we don't have four seasons.

Faye Rutledge Concord VA
I love autumn! I was married in October...this year will our 16th anniversary! My son also had a beautiful outside wedding in October. I love your fall leaves photos :)

Autumn is my favorite time of year. The scenery is so beautiful and the air is so crisp. Although, this month we have been having some hot weather in the mid to high 80s. It's still summer on the Pacific Coast.

You've done a wonderful job putting this page together. I love the photos! Blessed.

I don't have many memories but my elder siblings do. Actually when I was a kid I never could relate to months and seasons, and by the time I really started to care for seasons, the whole thing kind of got disturbed. No more peak summers in June and timely rains in July.. Only if I had paid more attention back then.. ;)

flinnie lm Fall make Alabama such a nice place to be.

I love the colors of fall.

Lovely lens! I got married in September. It was a warm, sunny day.

I agree about everything in this lens. The poem was so nice. In Sweden we pick a lot of mushrooms in the fall. Many kinds and colors of them.

Grasmere Sue  Grasmere, Cumbria, UK
I totally agree with you- I love autumn too!

Elyn MacInnis Shanghai, China
I love autumn especially because I don't like the heat of summer. When the cooler weather comes I have energy again. So fall is best!

This was a particularly lovely visit. Thank you for sharing so much beauty. I will need to visit again to meet your Goldie. We lost one of our dogs quite a few months ago now, but I am still not strong enough to read about others losing theirs. Blessings.

Absolutely gorgeous lens - autumn is so wonderful, though I think winter is my favorite (mainly because winter down here is almost like autumn everywhere else...)

CruiseReady  East Central Florida
We don't have a lot of that fall and winter stuff where I live... most of our trees keep their leaves and stay green all year. Not all, but most. I like it that way.

MargoPArrowsmith
I love fall. The only thing to not love about fall is that it gets dark sooner, but everything else is wonderful

aesta1  Ontario, Canada
I love Fall and you're right, nature at its full bloom before it sleeps.

Hi jasmineann,
I enjoyed your lense very much. Autumn will be here soon. I love the first feeling on 'chill on the cheek'. The leaves will be coloring and falling shortly!

blue22dLove autumn and your lens. The colors are fabulous. A Blessing to you for such a beautiful lens.

Fall is amazing. The food, the colours, the feel of the air, the weather, Halloween.. I could go on and on. I can't put into words how much I love it. The only semi-bad thing about it is the fact that WINTER comes next *insert angry face here*

ajgodinho Ontario, Canada
I enjoy Fall very much and it's my favourite season as well. It was nice to read through this beautifully crafted lens filled with some many wonderful memories, including your wedding. I enjoyed listening to Vivaldi while reading this . Thanks for sharing your memories with us! :)

we have something in common, Autumn is also my favorite time of year. In Alabama however, we have a lot of evergreen, and what isn't usually just turns brown. There are times when a cold snap hits just perfectly though, and what a sight!

Very nice lens, I love Autumn, the colours are so beautiful. 5***** for a splendid job.

Autumn is my favorite season as well; you still have flowers, but without the summer heat, plus you get lots of fruit and veggies from the garden as well! And than there's Halloween, my favorite holiday, which also comes in the fall, plus I live in Maine, so we get to see the fall foliage without having to take a trip to see it!

Thank you for dropping by my Autumn/Fall post :)

Do you have any Autumn/Fall memories? Love to hear from you.
